In addition to our clinic at Mersham- le- Hatch, we also have a shop where you can buy all your travel essentials, including DEET based insect repellents, mosquito nets, water purification, travel adaptors and many more useful travel items. The shop is open 9-4 Monday, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 9-7pm on a Tuesdays. We also open the last Saturday of every month 9-12. If you are making a special trip to our shop we would advise you call us first just to check we are here, just in case we are working out of the clinic. DEET based insect repellents
In our shop we stock deet sprays ranging from 20%- 100% Deet. DEET is the most widely recommended active ingredient in insect repellents; it repels mosquitoes, ticks and other biting insects. We would advise the following strengths for different uses-
20% would be suitable for young children and/or adults with sensitive skin.
50% is the most commonly used and suitable for most holidays and destinations.
100% is usually only recommended for places that are at high risk from insect borne diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever, e.g. cruising down the Amazon.
For people who do not like to use deet on their skin, we also sell clothing treatment, neat deet for bands and clothing and mosquito repellent bands. Ideas how to protect yourself from being bitten can be found in our shop.

Mosquito nets
We have a large collection of mosquito nets available in our store, from the simple, lightweight net, ideal for backpackers to the luxury dome pop- up net for a double bed. Plus we also keep in stock bed bug and sleeping bag liners, mosquito net treatment kits and fixing kits. If you don’t need a net where you are staying but would like to take some protection we also sell room spray for just £3.99 or plug- in repellents from £6.99.

Water Purification
Many diseases are spread through water and so it is very important when you are abroad that you have access to safe drinking water so you can keep yourself well hydrated in the heat. Many Destinations sell safe bottled water but if you are off the beaten track, you may not have access to it. If this is the case, you need to make sure you take a method of water purification with you. Whether it is a basic pack of iodine or chlorine tablets, or whether you ‘splash out’ on an Aquapure hydration bottle with a built in filter, it is better that you are prepared.
