8 Weeks To Go

At BMC Travel clinic we keep all malaria tablets in stock. There are different types of malaria tablets available, so it is important you are prescribed the tablet that best suits you and your trip.
The nurses at our clinic have a wide understanding about each of the tablets available and are more than happy to sit down with you to discuss your different options until we have found the most effective course for you.
You may have been told all sorts of horror stories about taking malaria tablets, but we can ensure you that by talking to one of our nurses and choosing the correct drug for you will minimise the risk of any unwanted side effects.

Depending on which tablets you are prescribed, you will need to start taking them either 1 week or just 24hours before you enter the malaria area, so make sure you have enough time to get them sorted.

Once you are out of the infected area it is VERY important that you complete the course of tablets as instructed on the box.  If for any reason you do not have enough to complete the course (maybe you stayed longer than anticipated or you lost a couple of tablets), please just call us at the clinic and we will be happy to get more ready for you to collect when you return.

To check whether you will be staying in a malaria area please check your destination at
www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk or call 01233 503666 to speak to one of our nurses.
